Training walks – Ramsgate to Sandwich

We managed to get a couple of training walks in this weekend.  Both seemed longer than they actually were.. I think we should be worried !

Sunday we set of in horrid drizzle, low cloud and strong winds from the esplanade at Ramsgate and followed the coastal path round into the town of Sandwich, where we linked up with some friends who were staying there.  Most of the walk there is pleasant enough, apart from a short section where you have to walk along side a very busy fast road.  Once you reach the Pfizer site it all calms down again.  Although overcast, this part had a row of trees covered in blossom as the wind blew it was like walking in a storm of confetti. This walk turned out to be a 12 mile round trip, taking two hours each way.  The sun came out in the afternoon, so the return section was in beautiful weather.
